HSD

Fuel

High Speed Diesel (HSD) is a type of diesel fuel that is used for high-speed compression ignition engines. This type of engine is typically found in commercial vehicles, stationary engines, locomotives, and marine engines. HSD is also known as industrial diesel or simply solar in some parts of the world.

HSD is distinguished from other types of diesel fuel by its higher cetane number. Cetane number is a measure of the ignition quality of diesel fuel. A higher cetane number indicates that the fuel will ignite more quickly and efficiently. This is important for high-speed diesel engines because they operate at very high rotational speeds

According to ISO 4259, HSD (High Speed Diesel) is characterized by a maximum density of 845 kg/m3 at 15 °C and a maximum viscosity of 2.5 mm2/s (cSt) at 40 °C.
